Obituary
Marian “Mary” Runde, 95 Platteville, WI went to be with her lord and family in heaven on May 12, 2026. Born in Platteville, WI on 11/23/1930 to August and Hannah (Speth) Suhr. She joined a sixteen year old brother, “Bernie.” She attended Rewey School and graduated from Rewey High with honors in 1948. She married Bernard “Bernie” Runde December 1, 1948, at the Lutheran Church of Peace. Bernie and Mary were blessed with twin daughters, Pamela and Pauline, on Jan 9, 1950. Another daughter Barbara joined the family on June 11, 1951, to complete the family.
Mary was a talented seamstress sewing for her girls and herself. She loved being a wife and mother. They were also blessed with two granddaughters. Brandi in 1987 and Molli in 1989; and great grandchildren, Owen (2010), Brooklyn & Winston (2020), and Bryce (2021).
Mary enjoyed working at the Laura Jay Fabric shop in Platteville in the early 1970’s and then moved on to manage the fabric department at Manchester’s in Madison, WI. In 1976, Bernie and Mary moved to Wausau, WI, which became home for 36 years. She worked at the Prange’s/Younkers store for 32 years before selling her home, retiring and returning to Platteville in November of 2012.
After returning to Platteville, she became a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace and enjoyed being a member of the “Ruth Circle”. She was a volunteer at the Senior Center for several years.
Those proceeding her in death were her parents, husband, two daughters Pauline Riemer and Barbara Runde and brother Bernard “Bernie” Suhr; Sister-in-law Mabel Bass, brothers-in- law, Robert “Bobby” Runde & Jerry Runde, Jim Bass, Don Brodbeck, great grandson Braydon Robertson, Sister-in-law Hazel Suhr, Rose Runde, Alice Runde, friends and relatives.
She is survived by a daughter Pamela (Randy) Adams, two granddaughters Molli (Tim) Vodak, Brandi (Jim) Robertson, great grandsons and great granddaughter, son-in-law Brent Riemer, Brother-in-Law Joe (Karen) Runde. Rosie Brodbeck and Jeanne (Chuck) Allen and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Lutheran Church of Peace, with Pastor Jasmine Tesdahl officiating. The visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Ashes to be buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, WI next to her husband.
Memorials may be given to the Lutheran Church of Peace or St. Croix Hospice of Platteville.
