Obituary
Robert Glenn Day, 88, of Rewey, Wisconsin, passed away at home on his 63rd wedding anniversary, August 3, 2026, after a stubborn battle with cancer.
Bob was born on May 27, 1938, on the family farm in the Town of Highland, son of Arthur and Esther (Trankle) Day. At age 5, Bob and the family moved to Rewey. Bob attended Rewey Grade School and Platteville High School, graduating in 1956. He received his degree in Agricultural Education from UW-Platteville in 1960.
After graduation, Bob taught Agriculture (and whatever other subjects he was directed to teach) at South Wayne High School for seven years. During this time, he drove school bus and in the summer drove truck for Green County, worked as a crop insurance adjuster, and helped out at his parents’ farm in Rewey.
After a brief stint with Tracy’s Seed in Janesville, Bob returned to do what his heart and body really wanted to do – farm. In 1968, with his wife Pam and young family, Bob moved back to Rewey to dairy farm on the place they would remain for 29 years. Together they built a high-quality herd of Holstein dairy cows and raised a family.
Bob was married to Pamela Warne on August 3, 1963, in Livingston, Wisconsin. Together they raised three children, Janith of Rewey, Craig (Jennifer) of Burton and Carrie (Mike) Frischmann of Mt. Horeb. Bob was the uncontested patriarch of the family, which came to include five grandchildren, Stacy (Tim) Ferraro, Brian Day, A. J. (Olivia Newbill) Day, Ally Frischmann and Kyle Frischmann. Bob’s heart was a farmer, but his brain was a teacher, and he taught his children and grandchildren much about living a joyful, productive and meaningful life.
Beginning in 1972, Bob served 25 years on the Iowa Grant School Board. In 1990, Bob took Barry Alvarez’s advice and became a Badger Football season ticket holder, attending games until he was no longer able. He and Pam enjoyed a trip to the 1994 Rose Bowl, which they attended because Bob and his brothers, certain the Badgers would never make it to the Rose Bowl, promised their spouses that if the Badgers made it, they would go. The Badgers called their bluff.
Bob and Pam retired from farming in 1997 and built a home on acreage outside of Rewey. Bob continued work for a few years for Reddy Ag, Schaefer Farms, Southwest Lawn Care, but mostly he enjoyed caring for his 60 acres of land, working in his shop, restoring and maintaining the previously abandoned Rewey-Dietzman Cemetery, and spending time with his favorite girl, either at home or traveling around Wisconsin and the U.S. Bob was an ardent fan of his grandchildren’s athletic and extracurricular activities at Lancaster and Mt. Horeb schools.
Bob was the last of the six Day siblings, Ralph, Doris Roberts, John, Norman, and Ruth Jinkins. He is survived by his wife, Pam, his children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at the Rewey-Dietzman Cemetery, rural Rewey. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2:00 -5:00 PM at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, and will continue on Monday from Noon until the time of the service.
Bob was a humble man who truly believed in supporting local organizations, therefore in lieu of flowers, chimes and memorials stones, memorials may be made to the Bob Day Memorial fund to support the Iowa Grant Education Foundation, Iowa and Grant County Cancer Coalitions.
