Obituary
Margaret E. Hentrich, 85, of Belmont, Wisconsin, died on Friday, June 26, 2026, after a hard fight with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Belmont. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where a rosary will be prayed at 3:45 PM, visitation will continue Thursday from 10:00 AM – 10:45 Am at the church. Margaret was born on May 6, 1941, in Grant County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Martha Abing. She was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Hentrich on September 15, 1959, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Tennyson, Wisconsin.
Margaret worked for many years at Lands End and later for the Belmont Senior Center. She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, where she was active in the CCW. Margaret enjoyed quilting, doing word puzzles, reading, tending to her garden and canning. She was known for making pasties. She was an avid Packer fan. Margaret loved spending time with her family and enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in all their school activities.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joe; six children, Sandy (Dan) Allen, Cindy (Dennis) Jones, Kim (Mike) Reuter, Jim (Laura) Hentrich, Jeff (Stacey) Hentrich, and Jason (Lorri) Hentrich; daughter-in-law, Janet Hentrich; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Hentrich; brother, Irvin Abing; sisters-in-law, Barb Hale, Bernadette Abing-Williams, and Paulette Abing; brother-in-law, Jim Jungk and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Hentrich, Jr.; her parents; siblings, Marie (Harold, Jukes) Kalmes-Herrig, Berniece (Eddie, Eldon) Kieler-Kaiser, Betty Jungk, Luella (Melvin) Brant, Leo Abing, Cyril (Florentine) Abing, Irene (Clarence) Seng, and Richard Abing; and in-laws, Don Williams, Katie Abing, Dan Joyce, Bernard Hentrich and Robert Hale.
