Willard Scheil

Willard W. Scheil, 82, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Rev. Mike Short will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Willard was born on February 28, 1933 in Winona, Minnesota, son of William and Erma (Albrecht) Scheil. Willard was united in marriage to Doris M. Rouse on December 23, 1955 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 – 1957 where he was in the North Atlantic Pac.
He worked at John Deere, Dubuque Works for 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the Elks Lodge. Willard took great pride in being a member of the Southwest Wisconsin Auto Club where he was a founding member, officer and served in many capacities. He took great pride in his antique cars. He was an avid Packer and Brewers fan. He enjoyed his daily coffee clutches at Ed's Café, McDonalds and the Owl. Willard's family was most important part of his life and he cherished the time he had traveling and visiting with them in Minnesota and Milwaukee. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Platteville; daughter, Kristal (Garry) Prohaska of Platteville; two granddaughters, Falynn (Jake) Mittag of Madison; Hailey Prohaska of Platteville; great-granddaughter, Macy Mittag; brother, Denver (Christine) Scheil of Milwaukee; sister, Karen (Merlyn “Red”) Rouse of Rockford, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sandra Russell.
