Obituary

Calvin W. Bendorf, 94 of Stitzer, Wisconsin, died on Monday, February 17, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, 1245 N. Water St., Platteville, or from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Calvin was born on March 18, 1925 in South Lancaster Township, Grant County, son of Lewis W. and Nellie I. (Wieland) Bendorf. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Budack on March 16, 1962 at the Free Methodist Church, Livingston. Ruth preceded him in death on October 31, 2006. Calvin was a life long farmer where he farmed 70 years in Liberty Township, Grant County. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Livingston. He enjoyed watching birds, and planting trees, doing his part to taking care of the earth.

Calvin is survived by his children, Vickie (Craig) Humphreys, Jeff (Ada) Bendorf, Diane (Tim) Twining and Stephen (Kathy) Noble; son-in-law, Keith Eikstadt; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ivanelle Forman and Margaret (Henry) Oechsle; one brother, Walter (Kaye) Bendorf; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Susan Rech and her husband, Steve; and Sharon Eikstadt; his parents; grandson, Stephen Todd Rech; brothers, Leslie, Lyle, Eldon, Virgil, and William; and sister, Esther McFall.

The Bendorf Family, many fond memories of Calvin when I attended the Livingston Free Methodist Church, his quiet demeanor was neat to see. I even helped on the farm one summer in the hills of SW Wisconsin My sympathy to you. Fred Soman
