Doug was one of our best deckhands on the ferry! He loved to share his knowledge of the Mighty Mississippi. Our passengers enjoyed chatting with him.

To Schiffman Family--I was saddened to see that your Dad and husband passed away. We are never prepared for someone leaving physically leaving our lives. He will be with you as his memories guide you and your families.

Dear Marian and to all of your family. I had planned to be at Doug's visitation today, to see you and offer my condolences in person. But a nasty cold says I should stay away. I remember Doug as being just a very good, fine man, joyful and fun, with family as the center of his life. Marian, you and he were/are such a beautiful, loving couple. I say are because love does not end with death. Your love for him continues, as does his for you. Know that you all will be in my thoughts and prayers today and in the days ahead. Christ's peace.
