Obituary

Ruth A Adams, age 82, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Platteville with her sons at her side. Ruth was born on October 3, 1940 in Platteville, the daughter of Leonard and Estelle (Simmons) Van Natta. On June 2, 1959, she was united in marriage to Thomas Adams at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville. Ruth worked for a time as a CNA and also at the One-Hour Drycleaners in Platteville, but spent many years as a stay-at-home mom raising her four boys. She and Tom renovated many houses, bringing their family to several communities in the area over the course of their lives, but Platteville was always the place Ruth truly felt at home. She enjoyed restoring antiques, fishing on the Mississippi with Tom, and trips to the boat in Dubuque to try her luck at the slots.

Ruth is survived by her four sons: Terry, Kevin and Ricky Adams, Platteville, WI and Scott (Krista) Adams, Poynette, WI; brother Ron (Nancy) Van Natta; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Estelle, an infant brother Richard Van Natta, her husband Thomas Adams, sister Joan Hamill, grandson Cory Adams and many, many treasured pets.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Father John Blewett will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
