Obituary

Grant R. Cullen, 83, of Platteville, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, Wisconsin. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at Whig Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the services. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Grant was born April 20, 1939 in Grant County, the son of Leo and Margaret (Kinch) Cullen. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1957. On May 5, 1962, he married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Cushman at the Methodist Church in Platteville. He worked for Platteville Lumber, builders Stan Wunderlin and Dick Martin before going on his own doing carpentry and masonry, he also farmed for many years in Harrison Township. Grant enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and was an avid reader.

Grant is survived by his wife of 60 years, son, Gary (Cathy Hilfer), daughter, Beatrice (Rick Davidson) Thuli, grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Bentz, Brittany, Blake and Brock Cullen and Trevor (Fiance Skye Vickerman) Thuli, great-grandchildren Dalton, Evan, Avery, Kensley, Kipton, Tayden and Brinley, sisters, Lynda (Trinidad) Munoz and Naida (Dave) McKay and brothers Ralph Cullen and Lynn (Carol) Cullen. He was preceded in death by his parents.

So very sorry for your loss. Grant was a gem he truly was. So kind. Loved seeing him and Bev at the dances. Always smiling happy go lucky. He will be truly missed. Prayers are with his family and wife Bev. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

Uncle Grant was a quiet calm man with a great smile. I know we all go through life with ups and downs. Grant was a doer with his hands and his skills as noted in his work experiences as a carpenter over the years. Aunt Beverly was always there with him and they greatly complimented each other in their many activities over the years. I am sorry that I was not able to attend Grant's funeral there in Platteville. His memories will continue in my heart for as long as I live. Duane Boebel
