Margaret Haese

Margaret E. “Peg” Haese, 71, of Shullsburg, WI passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at Edenbrook in Platteville, WI. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Melby Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Peg was born in Appleton, WI, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Brecklin) Haese. Later her family moved to Monroe, WI. After working various jobs, for the last 23 years of her working career, she worked for the State of Wisconsin, first for the Department of Motor Vehicles and then moved on to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville as a secretary. Peg had two special interests, dogs and ham radio. She had Whippets and belonged to a tracking club for dogs. Since Peg had moved to Shullsburg, she has had border collies as she and Paul have a flock of sheep. Peg was an avid DXer (contacting foreign countries) on ham radio. She and Paul spent eight vacations in St. Pierre and Miquelon on an island south of Newfoundland. This is where they did most of their contacting of foreign countries through ham radio.

Peg was survived by the love of her life, Paul DeWitte, brother Jim Haese and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is very much missed by her partner of 20 years, Paul, and her border collie Nike.
