Obituary

Donna Lee (Lynch) Leibfried, 87, of Potosi, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.

Donna was born in Potosi on November 17, 1935, the daughter of Arthur and Ardella (Steffen) Lynch.

She graduated from Potosi High School. She was united in marriage to Alfred “Al” Leibfried on July 16, 1955 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. She worked at the Dubuque Battery Factory for a while, and later she and Al started Leibfried Feed Service while farming in Potosi.

Donna was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir. She and Al enjoyed bowling in a league with family and some dear friends. She enjoyed going to all of the sporting events that her family were involved in, working in her yard, playing euchre, and going to Lake Holcombe on their yearly family vacation. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was famous for her poppyseed bread. No family gathering was complete without it! She also made sure to make a special birthday dessert of choice for everyone.

Family meant the world to her. The way she looked at all of us you could tell we were the most important thing to her. Donna lovingly raised her sons, and supported them, their wives, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout her lifetime.

Donna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Al; her four sons, Doug (Marla), Brad (Colleen), Dan (Cindy) and Perry (Kathy); ten grandchildren, Jenny (Brandon) Dietzel, Nick (Jessica), Jamie, Luke (Brianna Graves), Kelly, Brent, Bryce (Danielle), Rachel (Zach) Stewart, Megan (Rhett) Weber, Mark (Tessa); ten great-granchildren, Ty Leibfried, Ava Leibfried, Logan and Landrey Dietzel, Sully and Otto Leibfried, Evie and Zoey Stewart, Whitley and Cashton Leibfried; three sisters, Darlene Loeffelholz, Evelyn Leibfried, and Connie (Tom) Loeffelholz; sister-in-law, Karen Lynch; brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Mary Grace) Leibfried; and many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Al's parents Alfred and Hilda Leibfried, infant granddaughter, Molly Leibfried, brothers, Burnell, Roger and Dale “Chuck” Lynch, sister-in-law, Velma Lynch, brothers-in-law, Ken and Robert Leibfried and Charles Loeffelholz.

A private Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Donna from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Holiday Garden's, Potosi. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew-Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi Volunteer Fire Department or Potosi EMS. Our deepest condolences to all of the family. Donna was a very kind and welcoming person. She never raised her at us guys when she should have cuz we were plenty loud playing cards in her basement. Her graciousness and acceptance is something I’ll always remember her by. She was truly a wonderful lady.
