Roger was one of my art history teachers at the University of Wisconsin Platteville in about 1966-7. He walked up to the image on the screen and talked about composition, color and meaning. I learned so much from him! Many years later I used the same technique when I taught art part time at the college level. I was sorry to hear of his passing.

I remember Mr. Gottschalk from a very young age. Our family (Bull) received several of his May baskets. I still have a couple of his handmade vases that came to me following my parents' passing. Every May 1st, I have always thought of him, and I always will. Sending healing thoughts to the Gottschalk family; what a wonderful life he lived.

Dignity & bearing? Quiet & thoughtful? Gentle soul? All seem inadequate descriptors of Roger; suffice it to say I was privileged to have been his colleague.
