Gary C. Haney

Gary C. Haney, 73, of Platteville, died Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Noon at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

 Gary was born on October 22, 1952, in Platteville, the son of Clayton and Maxine (Mueller) Haney.  He was united in marriage to Beverly VanNatta on November 15, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  

 Gary graduated from Platteville High School. Gary had a strong work ethic that was instilled in him at an early age while working for his dad and with his brother driving truck and delivering pop for Haney Distributing Company. Eventually leaving the pop business, Gary went on to become a foreman with Iverson Construction. He retired doing what he loved, driving truck for Faherty Inc. in Platteville.

 Gary was a great conversationalist, no matter where he went or who was there, he could always strike up a conversation. He especially loved his phone conversations with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan. He loved the Packers, but most of all his beloved Brewers, never missing a game. He also loved following his grandchildren in all of their sports and family activities. Gary cherished Thanksgiving, where his family would always come together. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, whether it was going for a motorcycle ride, watching television and movies or just a trip to Dubuque. 

 Gary is survived by his wife, Bev; six children, Tammy (Ed) Mast, Rebecca (Mike) Wagner, Sara (Chris) Jenny, Jill (Ryan) Schlag, Darrell (Alexis) Nelson and Kurt (Rachel) Haney; 16 grandchildren;   6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene (Jane) Haney and nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
