Dale Roger Fatzinger, (89), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6th, at his home in San Antonio, Texas. Dale was born on January 14th, 1935, in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Charles and Geraldine Fatzinger. He received his Bachelor's degree in geography from Kutztown State University in Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed cruises and traveling.

The highlights of his life were his beloved family.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan, sons Curt (Robin) Fatzinger, Eric (Colleen) Fatzinger, Grant (Maryna) Edwards, Gregory Edwards;  grandchildren Jane (Fern) Rodriguez, Megan Edwards, Kate Edwards, Tom Edwards, Samuel Edwards, Katie (Jake) Kauffman, Kelsey (Christopher) Fatzinger-Schnurr, Kyle (Keri) Fatzinger; great-grandchildren Preston and Grace Fatzinger-Schnurr and Cameron and Carter Fatzinger; sister-in-law Patricia Fatzinger; brother-in-law Grant Pyatt (Candy); and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas Fatzinger.  At his request, there will be no funeral.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the UW-Platteville Foundation, Dale and Susan Fatzinger Teaching Excellence Award.

I was saddened to hear the passing of Dale Fatzinger. I had the privilege of working with him as chair of the Biology Department from 1981 to 2002. Dale was an excellent administrator as Dean and I was fortunate to learn from his expertise and knowledge some of the fundamental rules on how to run an academic department . Dale was an effective dean, honest and straightforward In his approach to manage academic departments. He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to Susan and his family.
