Obituary

Arthur L. Beaulieu, 78, of Platteville, WI, died Thursday, February 29, 2024. Per Art's wishes there will be no formal services. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Art was born January 27, 1946 in Chicago, IL., son of Albert & Lucille Beaulieu. After graduating from Oak Park River Forest High School, Art worked for Hiram Walker, Distributors, earning money for college as well as driving bus for the CTA during summer breaks. He went to Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, IA. Where he met his wife, Patricia. They were married January 26, 1970.

Art was the Big Man on Campus, everywhere he went. He was a memorable man to everyone who met him. He had an amazing sarcastic sense of humor and was quick-witted. He worked part-time for KAYL, KAYL-FM. He quickly became a radio personality known as Frank N. Stein, the ---weatherman. He loved giving people nicknames such as The Grip(mail carrier dropped letters once), Shovel leaner (neighbor who worked for the city). Listeners and the individuals themselves loved it. Over the years he was engineer of KAYL radio station, Manager/Business manager of the radio station in Ripon, Randolph School District business manager, and Platteville School District business manager. He retired in 2016. Art loved theater, music, and old classic movies and TV. He was a jack of all trades around the house, and a computer wiz. He was able to instill in his children Anne and Scott those same interests, as well as his sarcastic sense of humor.

Art is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Scott (Sarah) Beaulieu, Chili, WI, Anne Marie Beaulieu, Chicago, I., and 6 grandchildren, Carter Beaulieu, Jackson Beaulieu, Sophie Beaulieu, Logan Keeling, Lola Keeling, and Alexander Keeling. Art was preceded in death by his parents.

So sorry to hear this. I was a Business Manager colleague. Art was a compassionate man. In a conversation once, I briefly alluded to a recent personal breakup, and he very adeptly showed his concern and support. I’m sure he will be missed by family. RIP.
