Obituary
Alan J. Eveland, 75, of Platteville, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 at home. Alan was born on July 30, 1948. He was the son of James and Arlyn (Brennum) Eveland. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Abing, on August 28, 1971.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville in 1970. His career in education began at Blanchardville High School as a teacher and a coach. He continued on to earn his Master's Degree in 1972 from Southern Missouri State University in Springfield. He taught and coached at Rolla (MO) High School before accepting the role of Assistant Principal at Rolla Junior High School. In 1979, he returned to Wisconsin to continue his career in Educational Administration for the School District of Platteville. He retired in 2004 after 25 years with the District.
He was a passionate advocate for inspiring success in his staff, his students, and his family. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and traveling. He looked forward to annual summer vacations with his family. He took tremendous pride in maintaining his lawn and gardens. After retirement, Alan and Joyce spent their winters vacationing in Florida and Arizona.
Alan is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Damian, of Minneapolis, MN, and Courtney (Daryl Logan) of Verona; his siblings, Cindy (Ron) Weber, of Cuba City, Kristi (Tim) Murray, of Waunakee, Michael, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Mark (Laura) of Cedar Rapids, IA; his stepmother, Barb, of Cuba City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Greg.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, with a celebration of life to be held beginning at 4:00pm. Friends are asked to bring their favorite stories and memories of Alan to share. A light meal will follow the celebration.
