Obituary

Donald W. Bailey, 88, of Platteville, Wisconsin died Friday, May 10, 2024. Donald was born March 22, 1936, the son of Willard and Mildred (Lee) Bailey in Grant County.  

Don farmed in Smelser Township for many years.  After moving  to Platteville Don worked in maintenance at Parkview Terrace which is now Edenbrook of Platteville.  Don enjoyed the outdoors by hunting, fishing and searching for morels and ginseng.

Don is survived by his son Kevin “Beetle” Bailey, nephew Richard (Carol) Long and a great niece Nicole Long and great nephew BJ Long and his children.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Lucille Long.

Memorial services will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
