Donald H. “Moose” Morshead Sr.,, 89, of Potosi, Wisconsin, died on Friday, September 20, 2024, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 28, 24 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tennyson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Don “Moose” as many family and friends referred to him as, was born on January 13, 1935, in Grant County, Wisconsin, the son of John and Lena (Udelhoven) Morshead. He was united in marriage to Donna Mohr on December 1, 1956, at St Raphael Cathedral, Dubuque, IA . She preceded him in death on August 11, 2004.
Moose worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for 37 years, where he spent his first fifteen in the foundry before moving into the plant. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tennyson. Moose enjoyed mowing and tending to his yard. Moose enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He and Donna also enjoyed many trips out west. After retiring, Moose and Donna enjoyed traveling across the Country to visit national parks and their children.
Moose is survived six children; Barb (Darrell) Steinback-Bartlett, Charlie Morshead, Chris (Deb) Morshead, Sue (Marty) Vrzak Diann (Kathy) Morshead and Deb Morshead; daughter-in-law, Betty Morshead; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rosie Morshead, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, daughter, Patricia Hurley, son Donald, Jr., sister, Esther (Leo) Fecht, and brothers, Willie and Ralph.
