Obituary

Robert Bruce Donner, 79, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, September 26, surrounded by his family. Robbie was born in Richland Center in 1945 to Clarence and Janet (Wilkinson) Donner, and he grew up on a farm near Gotham. Rob is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Laura (nee Carswell / Ladd); his children Robin, Deahn, Brian, Andrea, Ryan, and Sarah; his grandchildren Taylor, Nicholas, Hallie, Anya, Phoebe, and Andrew; and his brothers Clifford, Chris, and Brad. Whether he was known as Robert, Rob, Robbie, Bob, Dad, or Grandpa Bob, those who knew him will always remember his wit, his kindness, and his thoughtful intelligence. He will especially be missed by Spud, Big, Ponce, Brain, Phoof, Deke, and Bags. We are the lucky ones who knew him best.

Following his wishes, a private gathering will be held. In remembrance of Robert, any charitable donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

I am saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We were in the same neighborhood and I use to watch the kids if Bob and Laura had a chance to get away. You have my deepest sympathies for his loss.

My condolences for your loss of a wonderful husband and father and friend. I worked with Bob for many years and he often talked about your family and life. I can tell you that every day working with him was a better day for me. He will not be forgotten.
