Darlene Carpenter

Darlene M. Carpenter, 90, Platteville, WI died Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was born in Grant County, the daughter of LaVerne and Alice (Louthain) VanNatta.  On October 4, 1968, Darlene married Lynn Carpenter in Galena, IL.  Lynn predeceased her on October 23, 2014.  She worked at the Capital Café, the Hi-Way Café, in Potosi and later worked at The Timbers as a cook at all three places.  In 1977, she went to work at Advance Transformer, where she worked many years.  She liked to crochet, loved a good game euchre and especially enjoyed time with family.

Darlene is survived by her children, Larry (Sandy) Howell, Chris (Jack) Williams and Randy (Kim) Howell, grandchildren, Jamie (Jeremy) Duve, Nicole Howell, Jake (Erin) Howell and Jesse Howell, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, a brother Bob VanNatta and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, grandchildren, Amanda and Justin Williams, sister, June Knutson and brother, Raymond “Bud” VanNatta.

Services celebrating Darlene's life will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville, WI.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.melbyfh.com.
