Obituary

Lisa A. Wedig, 58, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by family after a nearly 3 yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.  Lisa was a giving person her whole life and continued that upon her death through organ donation to help others.

Lisa graduated from Cuba City High School, class of “84” and later from Finley School of Nursing, Dubuque.  Lisa was united in marriage to Brian Wedig on September 22, 1990, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler.  Her career as a Registered Nurse, a profession she was ardently passionate about, started with doing homecare and later working at Bloomfield Manor, Dodgeville.  For many years she worked at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, a setting she really enjoyed.

Lisa enjoyed the outdoors. You could find her tending to her gardens and flowers all summer long. She loved traveling, going on UTV rides, hiking, biking and spending time boating at Apple Canyon Lake. Lisa especially loved spending time with her family.

Lisa is survived by her beloved husband, Brian, four children, Brittany Pusateri, Brandon (Alexandria) Wedig, and their children, Madden and Wes; Tucker Wedig, and Jacob Wedig (Stacia); two sisters, Debbie (Dan) Hoey and Cindy (Ken) Aird; one brother, Steve (Laura) Bertjens; brother-in-law, Nick Loeffelholz;  father and mother-in-law, Tom and Rita Wedig and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Lillian “Lynn” Bertjens and sisters, Michelle Kaiser and Diane Loeffelholz

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler.  Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a rosary at 2:45 PM.  Private burial will be at a later date at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Elk Grove Twp.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Brian and Family, We want to express our condolences at a time of loss for the Wedig family. We remember Lisa and her friendship over many years. Even when we would go several years without seeing each other, we could pick up and carry on like it was only a brief period the last time we were able to connect. We have no doubt her faith followed her during a long journey. And her memory will be remembered through a fantastic family. Bob and Marie Kliebenstein Tomah

My thoughts are with Lisa's family. So sad to hear about her passing. I had her in my history class many years ago and she was such a kind and caring student even as a sophomore in high school. I was able to connect with her at times when I was watching the shot put or discus at the Cuba City Invit. She was so proud of her kids and was a great mom. I last saw her a few years ago when I had to give blood and she was my nurse. Again so sad !

So sorry to read about your loss of Lisa. She was a great nurse, and I enjoyed when we were able to work together at SWHC. She also was a patient of mine, I did her foot surgery.
