Obituary
Carolyn Kay Masbruch, 77, of Belmont, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Carolyn was born on March 10, 1948, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Bockhop) Burns. Carolyn attended Belmont High School and then went on to receive an associate degree in General Clerical at Madison Area Technical College. Right after college, she worked at Rayovac in Madison in a clerical position. On June 7, 1969, she was united in marriage to David Masbruch at First English Lutheran in Platteville, Wisconsin. Not long after, they moved to Chicago and both worked at Continental Insurance. When the time came, they returned to Belmont to work on David's family farm. After 24 years of farming, Carolyn worked at Governor Dodge Hotel, Brodbeck Enterprises and Montchevre before retiring. Carolyn was a hard-working wife, mother and grandmother on the farm and in the community.
Carolyn enjoyed all things baking and gardening and loved to share her creations. She also had a fond interest in playing Solitaire and card games. Throughout the years, she loved to host and attend various picnics, gatherings, and fishing trips with friends and family. Of all of those people she enjoyed spending time with, one of those most dear to her was her brother, Duane “Burnsie” whom she thought the world of. Later in life, she loved spending her time with her grandkids, who held a special place in her heart. She took pride in attending every sporting event and celebration that she could.
Carolyn will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, David; two daughters, Kathy (Kate) and Nancy (Ronald Fitzsimmons); two grandchildren, Niko and Stefano; and her brother, Duane (Laura) Burns. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
