James Crawford

James R. “Jim” Crawford, 90, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at his home.  Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM, Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville.  Rev. Jasmine Tesdahl will officiate.  Private family burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Jim was born on June 2, 1935, in Galesville, Wisconsin, the son of George, Sr. and Pansy (Gilbert) Crawford.  He was united in marriage to Arlene Olson in Strum, Wisconsin, on October 22, 1955.  Growing up he worked on the family farm, and he also hauled milk as a young man.  He worked in construction for Goerdt Construction, Dubuque, Iowa and later for Homer Jewell, where he then started J.R. Crawford Concrete Construction, which he owned for 32 years.  He enjoyed his gardens, fishing, hunting and reading.

Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Arlene; three daughters, Laurie (Dutch) Kinzler, Donna (Keith) Stone and Julie Crawford; three sons, Ron, Gary and David Crawford; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Haney; brothers, Jerry (Betty) Crawford, Dennis (Ginny) Crawford and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Randy and significant other, Sue Williams, daughter-in-law, Darlene Crawford, his parents, and brother, George, Jr.
