Obituary

Darlene E. Dailey, 89, of rural Platteville, died on Thursday, October 2, 2025.  Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Free Methodist Church, Platteville.  Rev. Jeff Suits will officiate.   Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville.  Visitation will be on Friday from Noon until the time of the service.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Darlene was born on December 30, 1935, in Belmont, Wisconsin, the daughter of Homer and Marjorie (Jewett) Dietzman.  She was united in marriage to David Dailey on August 18, 1956.  He preceded her in death on September 17, 2025.  

Darlene went to Platteville Normal Teachers College; after graduating she taught school for a couple of years at Big Patch.   Darlene worked alongside her husband, David, for many years on their family farm, where she always enjoyed raising some chickens.   She later worked at Dick's and Walmart in their card section of the stores for Hallmark.  She was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Platteville.  She liked to go garage saling and antiquing whenever possible.

Darlene is survived by her two sons, Rodney and Scott Dailey; sisters, Anita Pohlman and Linda Green; brother-in-law, Paul Dailey; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, sister, Rosalie (Paul) Glasson,  brothers-in-law, Jim Pohlman and Joe Green and sister-in-law, Blanche Dailey.

I am so sorry to hear about Darlene and Dave both passing away. They're up in heaven with our father they both were very involved with God so I know that's where they are watching over everyone they cared for on earth God rest there souls .may God wrap his loving arms around there children at this time

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. We were Hallmark Associates together at the Walmart in Platteville. She was a wonderful woman. My thoughts are with you.
