Obituary

Douglas B. “Doug” Nodorft, 83, of Platteville, WI died Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Doug was born December 6, 1941 in Platteville, the son of Burton and Maxine (Corlett) Nodorft.  On November 30, 1963, he was united in marriage to Sharon Halferty at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Platteville.  Doug was a lifelong truck driver first for his own business, Nodorft Livestock and Grain, then later driving for Sully Transport, Inc.  He also helped his father, Burton, on the farm.  Doug was a fabricator of items he needed and was a “Jack-of-all-trades”.

Doug and Sharon visited classic Supper clubs, where he would enjoy a Brandy Old Fashion.  They took many road trips enjoying the beautiful countryside.  Doug was a great teacher when the grandkids were learning how to drive.  If any family needed a dog sitter, he was your guy.

Doug is survived by his wife, Sharon, sons, John (Terri Jo Hicks) Nodorft and Scott (Cara) Nodorft, grandchildren, Chelsea Nodorft, Ryan Nodorft, Justin (Cheyenne) Nodorft and Jacob (Nkele Cyr) Nodorft, great-grandchildren, Ava, Braelin, Tinslee, Rhett, Reese and Ross, brothers, Tom Nodorft and Robert (Tarrie) Nodorft.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Dorothy Halferty.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, WI.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  Visitation will be from Noon until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Lima Union Cemetery at a later date.   Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

We miss you so much already. . . . ~REMEMBERING ~coming to Platteville to visit family. You would ask me if I wanted to go with you for a ride in the 18 wheeler. I was so excited. We would load and offload whatever we were hauling. Stopping at the best truck stops, telling stories and just laughing. Fun times with my cousin. What I'll miss the most is our weekly calls. You always quizzed me on dates of different occasions. It was like "do you remember when?" Although no more truck rides and no more calls, I will cherish every truck ride and every minute we spent on the phone. You've earned your wings Doug 💙 Now you can drive any and everywhere you want to go. Just be safe! Hugs and love, Priscilla, Tony & Shannon💙
