Obituary

 

Margaret “Peggy” Bockhop, 77, of Belmont, Wisconsin, died on Friday, November 21, 2025. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. Rev. Gus Barnes will officiate.  Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 25, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, and will continue on Wednesday, from 10:00 -10:45 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Margaret “Peggy” Bockhop Memorial Fund, PO Box 245, Platteville, WI 53818.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com

Peggy was born on November 24, 1947, in Platteville, WI, daughter of Dick ”Bigfoot” and Alice “Tweety” (Holtz) Speth.  She married Daryl “Butch” Bockhop on June 23, 1973, at Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont.  

She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1965 and UW-Platteville in 1970 with a BS in Elementary Education. She began her 37-year teaching career with two years at Seneca, two years at Highland, and spent 33 years at Belmont, where she shaped many lives.  

Besides her love for teaching, she enjoyed sewing, reading, volunteering, and watching movies. In retirement, Peggy was active in the Belmont Library Board, American Red Cross Blood Drive, Belmont Community Fair, Peace Lutheran's Sunday School, sewing group, and altar guild.  Through her generous giving, she positively impacted many lives.  What provided her the most joy was being Grandma Peggy and spending time with her grandsons.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Butch, three children, Amy (Thomas), Angela, Tiffany (Bryan), two grandsons, Henry Harvanek and Ethan Pfremmer; two sisters Betty Dellabella, Penny Kies, two brothers Phil (Sheri) Speth, Frank (Junerose) Speth, sisters-in-law Sara Speth, Pam (Buck) Banfield, Julie Bockhop, many cousins, nieces, & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Alice Speth, brother Bill Speth, brothers-in-law Dick Dellabella, Gary Kies, Dewey Bockhop, Dalen Bockhop, sister-in-law Peggy Lee Bockhop, father and mother-in-law Barney and Ila Mae Bockhop.
