Jerald “Jerry” T. Grimes, 83, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, November 29, 2025, with his loving wife by his side.

Jerry was born on February 9, 1942, in Platteville, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph “Joe” and Edith (Murphy) Grimes. He graduated from Platteville High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army for three years, stationed in Germany. Jerry was united in marriage to Velma Pluemer on October 3, 1970. He drove semi-tractor for many years and later worked for a short time at Land's End before retiring. Jerry enjoyed watching sports, especially any team from Wisconsin.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Velma; brother, Doug Grimes; and sister-in-law, Shelly Grimes. He is further survived by Velma's brothers and sisters and all of their families. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ron, Randy, and Ted; sister-in-law, Linda Grimes; and nephew, Corey Grimes.

Per Jerry's wishes, private funeral services were held at the Melby Funeral Home and Crematory, Platteville. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

So many great memories. One is the memory of rides in his corvette! Glad that he was a groomsman in our wedding. Great Friend. Our Deepest Sympathy! So sorry to hear.
