Obituary

Cathleen “Cathy” A. Wedige, 73, of Potosi, Wisconsin, formerly of Platteville, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Memorial services will be at 6:00 PM, Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com. 

Cathy was born on October 17, 1952, in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of Donald and Barbara (Swank) Valentis. Cathy was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Wedige on August 5, 1972, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Shullsburg.  She graduated from Shullsburg High School, Class of ‘70'.  She attended Madison Technical College where she studied to become a barber/beautician.  For over 40 years she was a beautician working at Frank's Barbershop, The Hairdressers, Terry's Specialties and Cathy's Cuts.  She enjoyed reading, gardening and doing crafts.  Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and sisters.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob”; two sons, Tony (Rachael) Wedige and Mark (Sarah) Wedige; 10 grandchildren, Ava, Ella, Clay, Easton, Rowan, Alice, Raiden, Hadley, Paige and the tenth grandchild due in April, 2026;  three sisters, Chris Herbst, Charlie (Jimmy) O'Meara, and Valerie (Paul) Schreier and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mary Ann Mootz.

Cathy will be missed by so many people but will be remembered for her love for family and friends. She was a talent hairdresser, finding humor in difficult situations and like her mother a avid reader. May Dear Cathy be with the Lord without worries or pain. Love Aunt Mary
