Obituary

Tom Haisma, 69, of Belmont, WI went home to be with the Lord, Monday, December 8, 2025.

Tom was born on November 30, 1956 in Libertyville, IL.  He is the son of Harry and Marion (Lykke) Haisma.  On July 31, 1982, Tom was united in marriage to Rene' Bastounes at Bethel Lutheran Church in Gurnee, IL.

Tom was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.  He was a heavy equipment operator for various companies, one of which was Haisma Excavating & Grading.  Tom was currently serving as Planning Commissioner and Road Commissioner as a voting member and Town Supervisor serving on the Belmont Town Board.   He liked to go to car shows and swap meets.  Tom was a collector of vintage vehicles and enjoyed tinkering with them.

Tom is survived by his wife Rene' and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by  his parents and siblings, Harriett Olson, Harry Haisma, William Haisma and Robert Haisma, niece, Melody Ovendando and nephew, Todd Olson.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville, WI.  A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Matt Wunderlint at 7:00 PM.   An additional visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Warren Funeral Home & Cemetery in Gurnee, Il.  The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 19, 2025.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com
