Alfred “Al” G. Leibfried, 89, of Potosi, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his home. A Private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. Friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Holiday Gardens, Potosi. Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Potosi, at a later date. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew-Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi Volunteer Fire Department, Potosi EMS or St. Andrew-Thomas School. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Al was born on June 8, 1936, the son of Alfred “Bub” and Hilda (Slaats) Leibfried. Al was united in marriage to Donna Lee Lynch on July 16, 1955, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2023. Al was a lifelong farmer, and along with Donna, started Leibfried Feed Service which he worked until this past fall. He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, he served in the United States National Guard. Al enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing bags with family and dear friends he had. He liked traveling west to hunt, which he did for over 30 years. Al enjoyed going to all the school events his family was involved in over the years. His life was about his family and life on County Highway O, Grant County.
Al is survived by his four sons, Doug (Marla), Brad (Colleen), Dan (Cindy) and Perry (Kathy); ten grandchildren, Jenny (Brandon) Dietzel, Nick (Jessica), Jamie, Luke (Ashley Bode), Kelly (Ben Wilberding), Brent (Emilie Casey), Bryce (Danielle), Rachel (Zach) Stewart, Megan (Rhett) Weber, Mark (Tessa); ten great-grandchildren, Ty Leibfried, Ava Leibfried, Logan and Landrey Dietzel, Sully, Otto, and baby boy Leibfried on the way, Evie, Zoey and Cameron Stewart, Whitley, Cashton and Lindie Leibfried and Perry Weber; brother, Dale (Mary Grace) Leibfried; four sisters-in-law, Darlene Loeffelholz, Evelyn Leibfried, Connie (Tom) Loeffelholz, Karen Lynch; and many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, Alfred and Hilda Leibfried, infant granddaughter, Molly Leibfried, brothers, Kenneth and Robert, father and mother-in-law, Athur and Ardella Lynch, brothers and sisters-in-law, Burnell, Roger and Dale “Chuck” Lynch, Velma Lynch and Charles Loeffelholz.
