Obituary

Kay A. Wood, 88, of Cassville, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Dove Healthcare, Fennimore, Wisconsin.  Per Kay's wishes there will be no formal services.  Burial will be at the Cassville Cemetery, Cassville, Wisconsin, at a later date.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Memorials in Kay's name can be sent to PO Box 245, Platteville, WI 53818.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Kay was born on June 6, 1937, in Cassville, the daughter of Cecil and Grace (Knotwell) Schnorrenberg.  She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Keith E. Wood, on March 2, 1957, in Cassville.

Kay graduated from Cassville High School and for many years she worked at Okey's Market, Cassville. Kay was always active in her life by either enjoying a good crossword, a hard puzzle, baking for friends and family, being an avid reader, or going for walks all over town.  Kay loved summer get togethers with family and friends, especially her “Thirsty Thursday's” on the patio with her great friend, Barb Willis.

Kay is survived by her three children, Scott (Robin) Wood of Paducah, KY, Michael Wood of Tampa, FL, and Missy (Jamie) Pitzen of Platteville; four grandchildren, Samantha, Sara, Kaylen, and Sierra; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ashton, Briggs, and Brielle; sisters, Donna, Diane, Gail, Linda and Janet; brother, John.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, her parents, and brother, David.  

The family would like to give a “Huge Thankyou” to the staff of Dove Healthcare for the wonderful love and care they gave to Kay.  They truly are the best.  Also a special acknowledgement to St. Croix Hospice for the help they provided in the final weeks.

Our condolences to the Wood family. Kay was truly one of our favorite people in Cassville. Haven’t seen her for a long time but remember her friendly nature and laugh. Keeping all of you in our prayers.

Hey Mom, still processing the fact that you're gone. Just know I will miss our endless 2 hour phone calls, your sense of humor, margarita nights and just hanging out with you. I always appreciated how you would remember to make my favorite meals when I was home, even remembering vague things I may have mentioned only once...it meant a lot! You were one of kind! I'm sure by now you've caught up up with Dad and Jean! I'll see you again down the line, Love Ya!
