Kathryn “Kathy” J. Bottrell, 69, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away at home surrounded by love on Sunday, October 4, 2026, following a courageous battle with ALS.
A warm dinner and Celebration of Kathy’s Legacy will be held on October 10, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville. The family will be present from 4:00–5:00 p.m to spend additional time with those who come to remember and celebrate Kathy. The dress code is dressy casual, and black is not required.
Kathy was a deeply giving person who devoted her time, energy, and love to those around her. She specifically asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Boulder Crest Foundation and/or the EOD Warrior Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Kathy was born on April 3, 1957, in Torrance, California, the daughter of Salvatore and Betty (Williams) Frasca. She was united in marriage to Michael Bottrell on June 21, 1980, in Torrance, California.
For many years, Kathy worked alongside her husband as office manager at Michael L. Bottrell, DDS, in Platteville. Kathy had a natural eye for beauty and found joy in creating a beautiful and welcoming home and gardens where family and friends felt empowered and loved.
Above all, Kathy will be remembered for her loving and generous heart. She was a fiercely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and an courageously intentional caregiver who was always ready to offer her strength, compassion, and time to her community. Her warmth, generosity, and ability to make others feel cared for will live on.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael; three children, John (Amanda Grupp) Bottrell, Miriam (Josh) Nigl, and Andrew (Lindsey) Bottrell; three grandchildren, Caleb, Esther, and Jessa; and her sister, Karen (Gregg) Ritchie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Betty Frasca.
Kathy inspired a powerful and beautiful legacy of love and generosity, which will be enlarged by her family, the memories they share, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
