Rosemary A Schumacher, age 98, died on August 26, 2026 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster, WI. Rosemary was born in British Hollow, WI to Ed and Magdaline Berg on March 6, 1928 and graduated from St. Andrew Catholic High School in Tennyson, WI. Rosemary was united in marriage to Robert J Schumacher on May 6, 1947, and was employed as a CNA and school bus driver for several years, and was then a clerk/mail sorter at the Potosi Post office for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. Following the death of her father in 1968, Rosemary cared for her mother, Mag, for 25 years. Rosemary greatly enjoyed the outdoors with her husband, which included fishing (especially ice fishing), hunting of everything from game to mushrooms, berries, and ginseng. She was always ready for a good game of euchre, and especially enjoyed all family gatherings. Rosemary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed greatly.
Surviving Rosemary are two sons, Roger Schumacher, Marshfield, WI, and Dennis (Kathy) Schumacher, Monmouth, IL. Four grandchildren: Brett (Megan) Schumacher; Kari (Andrew) Moede; Vanessa (Drew) Witherell; and Monica (Steven) Kupisch. Also surviving are 5 great grandchildren; Parker & Luca Schumacher, Ben Moede and Taylee & Annisten Witherell. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, of 67 years, parents Ed and Mag Berg, her brother Jacob (her only sibling), who was killed in action in Italy in WWII, and son, Thomas, at 11 years of age.
Private family services for Rosemary Schumacher will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial at St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Melby Funeral Home, Platteville, WI is assisting the family.
