Obituary
John “Jack” T. Davis, 86, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, July 25, 2026. “Jack” as so many knew him as was born on March 3, 1940, in Platteville, Wisconsin, the son of Robert and Edith (Stead) Davis. He was united in marriage to Janet Gerber on July 6, 1984.
Jack worked for 30 years at John Deere Dubuque Works where he worked in the foundry and in assembly. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an avid Packer fan and a loyal friend. He always enjoyed his cold beers, and spending time at the VFW, Platteville, where he would share his witty sense of humor with others. Jack will be missed by so many.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janet; six children, Rob Davis, Deb Davis, Chris Frye, Carrie (Frank) Haack, Shannon (Julie) Davis, and John (Lynda) Davis, Jr; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alyce Bohn and May Lou Shirmer; sisters-in-law, Fern (Bob) Leighty, Virgie (Larry) Anderson, Ginger (Greg) Ames, Lori (Kevin) Kase; brothers-law, Ron (Pat) Gerber, Jerry (Marsha) Gerber, Bill (Marie) Gerber, and Dave (Loretta) Gerber; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, David Davis, brothers, Richard “Deacon”, and William “Edgar” and sister, Margaret “Peggy” Gerber.
The family would like to THANK the Platteville EMT, Southwest Health Center, UW-Hospital, Madison, Orchard Manor, Agrace Hospice for their loving care. Also a special THANKS for family and friends during this difficult time.
Per Jack’s personal wishes there will be no formal services. Burial will be at Whig Cemetery, in rural Platteville. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is assisting the family. ACHTUNG!!!
