Laura (Ogden) Sailing

Laura Lynn Sailing (Ogden), age 56, of Mazomanie, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 8, 1970, in Madison, the daughter of Jerry and Mary (Johns) Ogden.

Laura grew up in Verona, WI, and graduated from Verona High School in 1988. She started working at Shopko, alongside her brother, Chad, until she was hired by Anchor Bank, where she spent nearly 25 years as a customer service representative. During her time at Anchor Bank, Laura had her daughter, Makayla. She made the decision to take time from her working career to raise her daughter. She felt being a mother was the most important job of her life. Later, she worked at Nonn’s Appliance as a customer service representative and scheduler. It takes someone with a lot of patience and understanding to work in customer service, and she was exactly the type of person for the job.

Laura was always thinking of others and cared deeply for the people around her. She was her daughter’s biggest fan and did everything she could for her. Laura enjoyed the kitchen and liked trying new recipes.  She enjoyed traveling, camping and being on the water. She was a planner and enjoyed entertaining. Family and friends were very important to her, and she always wanted to spend her time with them.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Makayla; step sons Cody (Audrey) Sailing and Lukas (Brienna) Sailing, her parents; her brother, Chad (Stephanie) Ogden; special cousin, Angela Axtell, many aunts, uncles and cousins; and numerous other friends, family members and special neighbors, the Wicks.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil & Sarah Ogden and Gerald & Eloise Johns, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to give special thanks to SSM Health, Dr Amy Stella, and Agrace Hospice for the care they provided Laura over the last several months.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM  to 10:30 AM on August 15, 2026, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, WI.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on the same day at the funeral home.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  A private burial will take place at a later date in the Peniel Cemetery.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
