Stephen J. Vondra

Stephen J. Vondra, 72, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at Noon, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville.  Visitation will be from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Stephen was born on October 20, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Arlyn W. and Rosemary C. (Houtakker) Vondra.  He graduated from Iowa Grant High School.  Steve was steadfast in his faith and was dedicated to his hard work on the family farm for many years.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville, and the Knights of Columbus.  He also loved the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Steve is survived by his siblings, John (Cindy), Tony (Pat), Dennis (Gail), Ed (Patti), Mark (Pam), Mary (Jim) Rogers, Joan (Bruce) Bryant, Cathy (Phil) Klein, Ann (Mike) Veith, Marty (Tonya), Rita Vondra, Caroline (John) Van Herwynen, and Paul (Marilu); brother-in-law, Dan Hale; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlyn and Rosemary Vondra, and his sister, Jane Hale.
