Obituary

Janice M. Kase-Popple, 90 of Platteville, Wisconsin died on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.  Janice was born on October 2, 1935, in Grant County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Miles) Goke.

Janice was united in marriage to Carl Kase on September 30, 1959, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1991.  On November 27, 1999, she was united in marriage to John “Jack” Popple.  He preceded her in death on January 15, 2023.  Janice worked at Dick’s Supermarket, Montgomery Wards, Dr. Canny and later for UW-Platteville.  In retirement she worked for Lands’ End.  Janice for many years shared her gift of music as she sang for many funerals in Platteville.  She was an active member of First English Lutheran Church.  Janice was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her children, Kevin (Lori) Kase, Timothy (Julie) Kase, Michael Popple, Ann (Dale) Golden and Sue Popple; grandchildren, Chad (Anjali), Ryan (Shannon), Brent (Megan) Kase, Justin (Becka), Ryan and Matthew (Arica) Clare, Alex and Brittany Popple, Kasey Flogel, Arianna and Hannah Golden; 13 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl and Jack, her parents and brother, Jim Goke.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Rev. Gus Barnes will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Such fond memories as lived next door to her and Carl on Lutheran Street. Babysat for Kevin and Timmy. My sincere condolences to the family. She had an amazing voice and even as the young girl I was, I so enjoyed listening to her. Dixie Ward
