Donna Olthafer

Donna Jean Olthafer, 90, of rural Platteville, died on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at her home.  Private graveside services will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Donna was born on December 1, 1935, in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Mueller) Weigel.  She was united in marriage on January 21, 1956, to Richard “Dick” J. Olthafer at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville.  He preceded her in death on April 9, 2018.

Donna worked along side Dick on their farm for many years.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, crocheting, watching birds and tending to her flowers, “the simple things in life.”  She always liked going on drives with her children on the weekends.  She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville.

Donna is survived by four children, Melissa Burbach of Shullsburg, WI, John Olthafer of Waunakee, WI; Roberta (Keith) Glasson of Potosi, WI; and Justin Olthafer of Platteville; three grandchildren, Bethany (Zach) Howard, Bonita Medina, and Daniel (Shelby) Glasson; seven grandchildren; sister, Joyce Smith; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, an infant son, her parents, sisters, Bette Curtis, Shirley Kjos, Joan Cullen, Judy VanNatta and Eileen Yaeger, and brothers, Donald and Richard Weigel.
