Paul Nelson

Paul Nelson, age 39, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes related to heart disease on April 22, 2026.

Paul was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be remembered for his kind heart, bright spirit, and genuine love for people. He was thoughtful, and he genuinely cared about others. Paul especially loved the holidays because that meant spending time with his loved ones. He enjoyed listening to music, tabletop RPGs, and watching movies. Paul had a vibrant smile and an infectious giggle that brought joy to those around him. He truly loved being around others, building connections, and sharing laughter and conversation with those he cared about.

He is survived by his mother, Liz Schaal; his brothers, Aaron (Jessica) Nelson, Brian Schaal, Matt (Jessica) Schaal, and Jacob (Zell) Schaal; his nieces and nephews, Maddy Albert-Nelson, Zoe, Archer, Sterling, Hazel, Maple, and Canyon Schaal; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by Dennis Schaal; his grandparents, Barb and Maynard Nelson, Colleen Johnson, and Bruce and Carolyn Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory. Family and friends may come from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.

Paul will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, warmth, and love he shared so freely.
