Patricia Fox

Patricia “Pat” Lea Fox, 86, of Pecatonica, Illinois, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, 1245 N Water Street, Platteville, WI. Following the visitation a procession to Carmel Church for burial followed immediately with celebration of life and luncheon at Peniel Church, 1449 Peniel Rd, Mineral Point, WI.  Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

 Pat was born on February 10, 1940 in Seward, Illinois. She was the daughter of Rawley R. and Evelyn J. (Higley) Metz and was the fourth of thirteen children. On June 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Harold B. Fox Jr. of Platteville, WI. Soon after, they moved to a farm in southwestern WI.

 Pat was a hardworking individual, working long hours on the farm and also spent many years as a night-shift waitress at the Country Kitchen.  Her hands were seldom idle; she enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, knitting, sewing and needlepoint. At family picnics, there would be bickering and cutting in line to get a slice of her homemade raspberry pie, before it was gone.

 Pat loved country music and attended numerous concerts to see her favorite artists. Later in life, she took up line-dancing and working in her garden. She established gorgeous perennial flower gardens and happily shared plants with others that loved collecting perennials. For years she participated in local Flea Markets where she would sell plants and flowers from her garden, along with many flavors of homemade breads she baked. She stayed true to her dairy farming background using only “real butter” and dairy products in her baking. Her bread was so popular that she had standing orders during the off-season. Safe to say, she probably made a bazillion loaves of specialty dessert breads.

 Pat shared many of her favorite creative passions with her family and loved having activities for the smallest family members to do when they stayed with her. Spending time and interacting with her grandchildren gave her great joy. Her eyes would light up as she told or re-told a story about something they said or did when they were with her. 

 She is survived by her four children, Deb (Bruce) Enerson, Sherry (Kevin) Miess, Bruce (Crystal) Fox; Major Jamisen Fox, USMC Retired; six grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Enerson, Nicole Engstrom, Creedyn Fox, Aiden, Ari, Lucille (Lulu) Fox; two step grandchildren Colby (Ethan) Jordan, Trevor (Jessica) Gloeckner; one great-grandchild, William Enerson and three step great grandchildren; Atlas Jordan, Ezra Gloeckner, and Grey Gloeckner. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, and infant daughter, Julie M. Fox.
