Obituary

Herman W. Knight, 83, of Rewey, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, April 12, 2026.  Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Herman was born on June 5, 1942, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the son of Arnold C. and Mary Alice (Stebnitz) Knight.  He was united in marriage to Marilyn McFall on December 23, 1965, in Platteville. 

Herman graduated from Barneveld High School and attended the UW-Short Course in agriculture.  While attending school he sang in the choir and barber shop quartet.  Herman was an “agricultural specialist” and “jack of all trades”.  He loved the land and animals and what the earth provided.  He could fabricate anything even if it took some “red neck ingenuity’.  He was co-owner of Iron Anchor Pulling Sled.  He enjoyed tractor pulls, gardening, cooking, and restoring farm machinery and old pickup trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, children, Kelly Knight, Kari Knight, Marnie (Mark) Shemak, Kristi (Todd Johnson) Knight, Shane Knight; grandchildren, Sage Shemak, Pacy  and Corban Howard, Rhett Knight, Lane (Shea) Frederich, and Cole Johnson; sisters, Lois (Daryl) DeNure, Ruth Ehlert ; brother, Arnie (Theresa) Knight and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Mason Shemak and sister, Alice Lynn and her husband, Jerry, Burton.

One of my favorite piano players. He was having fun getting the piano 'jumping'.He enjoyed making music like Arnold (Dad) did. WE have lots of music filled memories At the Knight home. others happy with his music. Much like Arnold (his Dad) always did. Duane

Herman was the Ultimate Cowboy! He could ride the craziest and most spirited. He loved his family and Grandchildren. He certainly will be missed. God Speed Herman..!Always had a smile and a quote for alll
