Obituary

Cheryl Ann Funk, age 63, of Platteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on November 26, 1962, in Platteville, WI the daughter of Ronald and Donna (Louthain) Riege.

Cheryl was married to her devoted husband, Danny “Dan” Funk on October 15, 1988, at the United Methodist Church, Platteville. Together they enjoyed vacationing. Sharing lots of love and laughter with each other and friends. They also enjoyed golfing and doing an occasional headstand on the course every now and then.

Cheryl graduated from Platteville High School. Where she made many lifelong friends. They describe her as being a pure spirit who loved big and had the most contagious laugh. Cheryl loved animals, a love she shared with her Mother and Daughter.  She also enjoyed flowers, occasional bird watching and casino visits (boy was she lucky!).  Some of the best years were spent at River of Lakes Campground with family and friends. Cheryl especially loved spending time with her granddaughters, Savanna and Emma. She was thrilled when her first grandchild, Savanna was born on her birthday.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Dan, two children, Dave (Stephanie) Duggan and Carrie (Jordan) Droessler; her two granddaughters, Savanna and Emma Duggan; sister, Pam (Mike) Scott; brothers, Jim (Sue) Riege and Ronald Alan (Monica) Riege, Jr; father-in-law, Robert Funk, and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and mother-in-law, Rose Mary Funk.

Special thank you to Leslie, Deanna, Brittany and all the St. Croix Hospice staff.  Words could never express the impact you made on Cheryl and her family in her final weeks.

A service will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.
