My condolences to the McKichan family with Mick's passing. I've told many that Mick's great gift to so many was he changed people's lives. I was fortunate to play basketball at St Mary's w Mick as my coach. I learned a lot in those couple years. Lessons that carry me today. I think of driving to state golf events in Racine, Mequon and so many others places. The gift of having Dick as my high school coach was a gift as well. I sought Mick at UW basketball games and loved the opportunities to catch up quickly! We lost one of the best! God bless you Mick and the thanks for everything!

My Condolences to the McKichan family. Mick was an incredibly influential individual in so many junior golfers lives in the Platteville area, mine included. My father introduced me to the game, but it was Mick who quickly identified any potential I had and help me develop into a competitive golfer. Countless hours he dedicated to educating me on tournament opportunities, traveling to regional and state tournaments with myself and others. And possibly the most progressive thing that he did was create a middle school team and league, where he would take myself and others from Platteville G&CC all over SW Wisconsin to other clubs to play team matches. A concept I borrowed from him in developing middle school players when I was a high school golf coach and that has now been formalized nationally through the PGA Junior League. Mick and his brother, Dick, were an incredible one-two punch for developing golfers from their first years as junior golfers, all the way through high school. And in my case beyond high school, as Mick also had a significant impact on my professional life. After college, I decided to embark on a career as a PGA Golf Professional, it was Mick's influence that assisted me in getting my first assistant golf professional position at Blackwolf Run. Mick served as my primary reference for that job search and his status as a long standing board member of the WI State Golf Association and his kind words about me helped me secure my first job and solidify my future in the golf industry. I am forever grateful for his impact on my life. Sincerely, Dirk Willis - Vice President of Global Golf Properties, KOHLER Company.

I caddied for Mick for a few years in the late 70's, and also partnered with him playing "Bingo Bango Bongo" against the Dobsons for the high stakes prize of a Pepsi. I, like numerous young golfers, was taught etiquette, nuances, and strategies of the game because of his willingness to spend his time and teach without us realizing we were the students. Anytime that I get with my brothers to golf we will quote Mick and Dick's philosophical sayings (in their voices) which proves that imitation is the highest compliment. I owe a debt of gratitude that he convinced my parents to buy me a set of Hogan blades 47 years ago that I still have. Rest in Peace Mick.
