He was one of the kindest, most caring men I have ever met in my life. He will be missed. He always had a smile for me & we talked about animals every conversation. The squirrels in his back yard all knew him & they loved him. I saw babies crawl up his leg & I think he gave them treats everyday. He cared about his community & he is what every man should aspire to be.

We were very sorry to hear of Mick's passing. Our deepest sympathy to all of Mick's family. I first met Mick when he coached our 7th and 8th grade basketball team at St. Mary's. While he didn't have any biological kids of his own, the reality is that he did have hundreds of kids. The time and interest that Mick showed in the youth of Platteville is unmeasurable. Always encouraging and willing to help and never expecting anything in return, only that you give it your best shot. Thank you Mick for all you did for me and my family. Mick McKichan, truly a life well lived. Mike and Sandy Willis

Condolences to McKichan family. I worked at the law firm with him for 15 years and we shared the love of animals. He would always keep any horse calendars for me that he would receive in the mail, even up until a couple years ago. If I saw him out and about, generally at Kwik Trip, he would say “Tabatha, I have calendars saved for you in my office, you’ll have to stop in and get them sometime.” Rest in Peace Mick!

As a former Platteville Youth Baseball umpire Mick was the best. He not on only called the balls and stricks but also always made sure that the young players learned "Good Sportmanship." He was well respected by parents, the youth, and fellow coaches like myself.
