Janet M. Savoy, 76, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Janet was born on August 8, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Gladys (Brandt) Brzezinski. Janet graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee in 1971, earning a degree in math education. After graduation, she worked many years as an accountant for Red Star Yeast and later Milwaukee Stove and Furnace.
She was united in marriage to Joseph J. Savoy on May 23, 1980, in Milwaukee. Their only son, Joshua B. Savoy, joined them shortly after in October. They resided in Milwaukee until Josh was in 2nd grade, then moved to Muskego, Wisconsin. In her spare time, Janet enjoyed spending time with her best friend and partner in crime, Peggy Kloth, and trips to Potowatami Casino. They continued to reside in Muskego until her husband’s death in 2015. Janet then moved to Platteville to be near her son, Josh.
After moving to Platteville, she became involved in the community attending events at the Platteville Public Library and volunteering at InHealth Community Wellness Clinic, Boscobel, Wisconsin. She replaced her trips to Potowatami with weekly trips to the casinos in Dubuque. Janet enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, putting together puzzles, and reading, especially ghost stories. She also enjoyed watching television, especially shows like History’s Mysteries and Oak Island.
She is survived by her son, Josh (Becky) Savoy; brother Carl Brzezinski; nephew, Shawn (Jodi) Brzezinski and their daughter, Savanna; and niece, Kristy Brzezinski and her sons, Clayton, Kalvin and Gabriel Loesch. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister-in-law, Pamela Brzezinski; and best friend, Peggy Kloth.
