Obituary

Doris J. Lenth, 79, of Cuba City, formerly of Platteville, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Manor Care Health Center, Platteville surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Chaplin Brian Baker will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Doris J. Doris was born on May 20, 1935, the daughter of George and Hannah (Foote) Hoffman in Smelser Twp., WI. She was united in marriage to Keith “Speed” Lenth on April 18, 1953 at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville. Doris loved sewing, camping, and gambling, especially, sizzling sevens. But she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Keith “Speed” Lenth, of Cuba City; six children, Jane Hawkinson of Cuba City; Stan (special friend, Gianna Schermer) Lenth of York, Maine; Tim (Becky Mader) Lenth of Appleton; Kipp (Tish) Lenth of Ankeny, IA; Amy (Bob) Edge of Rewey; Heidi (Joe) Stoney of Rewey; sister, Darlene McCartney, of Platteville; 18 grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marian Hoffman; of Platteville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Dawn; brothers, Harold, Charles, Virgil, and LaVern; sister, Marie; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Lenth. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Manor Care, especially Gina, and hospice for their care given.
