John was born in Platteville to Harold and Mary (Steinbach) Miles; John was the youngest of six children. He married Vicki Jones on October 13, 1962 at the Free Methodist Church, Platteville. They were to celebrate 52 years together on October 13th. John worked at John Deere, for 20 years he drove for Consumers Co-op, Platteville. He went to work at Mound View Motors where he retired in 2004 where he made some very close friends. He enjoyed his coffee clutch at Country Kitchen and going to his “Board Meetings” at McDonald's. He liked to make up rhymes and jingles for his children when they were small, and then for his grandchildren. He loved it when he could make them laugh. His greatest passion was baseball, and his beloved Milwaukee Braves and then the Atlanta Braves. He played fast pitch softball for many years, and was a darn good catcher. He loved his family dearly and his pets, Penny and Milo were his best friends. He is survived by his wife, Vicki; son, Rob Miles of New Glarus and Dee Jaye of Monroe; daughter, Jackie Faber of Platteville; grandchildren, Kaley, Kyle, Jenna and Sam; two sisters, Janice (Gene) Digman and Donna (Delbert) Pluemer; brother, Keith (Audrey) Miles; sister-in-law, Beverly Miles; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Melvin at birth and Roger and one grandchild, Nathaniel. The family would like to thank Kim and the hospice staff for their very caring and loving assistance, and the staff of Southwest Health Center Hospital and Dr. White for their wonderful care the last few days of John's life.
Now, you make them laugh in heaven “John Boy”! as Kaley would say.
