Elda C. Hottenstein, 93, of Platteville, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Elda C. Hottenstein Memorial Fund. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Elda was born on October 12, 1921 in Grant County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Alfred and Margaret (Menne) Kelly. She was united in marriage to Herman Hottenstein on July 18, 1944 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tennyson. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2006. Elda farmed along with her husband, Herman, for many years. She was the bookkeeper for Lone Pine Cheese Factory and later worked for Homeward Bound. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. She enjoyed crocheting, where she made afghan's for her entire family over the years. Elda was a care giver to her grandchildren and other children whenever needed. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Kratochvill; son, David (Sandra) Hottenstein; daughter-in-law, Pat Hottenstein; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by her parents, son, Gene on March 14, 2009, son-in-law, Bob Kratochvill, and two brothers, Reuben and Mark Kelly.

To The Hottenstein Family, I just learned of Elda's death and I wanted to express my sympathy to all the family. Elda was a very sweet lady and was always good to me when we would go their house. Mom and Dad and Elda and Herman would play cards and Judy and I would play with Marie and Gene. We always had a good time. She also never forgot me when she would see me in Platteville. So sorry we did not hear of Eldas death. With mom at Manor Care and her condition she didn't hear it in time. Know it's been a hard time for you all. Best to you and Gods blessing.
