Obituary

Ann M. Frigo (Rebman) of Platteville, WI passed away unexpectedly at home on November 11. She was 71.

Ann was born on May 23, 1943 in Green Bay to Roger and Lola Rebman. She grew up in De Pere and the surrounding area, and graduated high school from St. Joseph's Academy in 1961. She married Patrick Reidy on October 12, 1963 in De Pere, from which they had two children and adopted two more. She married Bruno Frigo on July 7, 1975, and moved to Platteville in 1977; together they had two more children.

Central to Ann's life was her marriage, children, and home. She was an accomplished baker, and known for making an Italian cookie called pizzelle. She also created numerous unique knitted items such as sweaters, hats, and socks using wool she dyed and spun herself. She was well known to many of the fiber artists and wool producers in southern Wisconsin.

Ann truly loved her home in the woods, and continued her husband's interest in birds. She had fostered over the years an extensive group of orioles, which every summer would return to feed on the offered array of fruit and jellies. Also, inspired by her father's love for plants, Ann maintained a unique garden of herbs and flowers, raising herbs and using them to make wreaths.

Ann's home evolved with the seasons, and she decorated it to follow each. Having just recently festooned it in orange and tan of fall and Thanksgiving, we all truly are thankful for the creativity and devotion which Ann provided to our lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno; her parents, Roger and Lola; a brother, Joseph; and a sister Bernadette. She is survived by 4 sisters, 6 children, and 3 grandchildren.

Per Ann's wishes, there will be no public service or visitation.

To all of Ann's family: My husband Richard Weigel worked at the Platteville Dairy and often talked of Bruno as he would stop in at the Dairy. My heart goes out to all of your family. As a matter of fact I just talked with one of the sons on election day in Lima Township. What a wonderful sweet lady she was. Many beautiful memories, many prayers and much love are wished for you. To the children and their families of Ann, Please accept my sympathy with this brief note. Your mother was my first cousin. Lola Rebman was my mother's sister. My mother was Hazel Sturdivant Miller. I recall meeting some of you at your grandmother's funeral many years ago. As you know, the Rebmans, Sturdivants and Millers have not stayed in touch. That is unfortunate. However, after reading Ann's most eloquently written obituary I know she must have been a wonderful mother. I can remember my grandmother, Ann Sturdivant and Roger Rebman caring for their extensive display of flowers. Of course your mother and her sisters there helping them as they created their beautiful gardens. We are remembered by many by how our children and their children live their lives. May the things you loved most about your mother live on in you. Sincerely, Jerry Miller

I am Ann's cousin Mike Sturdivant and I would like to offer my condolences to Anns family. Ann used to babysit for myself and my brother when we were young and she always kept us busy with fun things so we really looked forward to her coming over to babysit for us. Reading her obituary it sounds like she did some really neat things to keep herself busy in addition to being a grandparent. I will keep Ann and all you guys in my prayers.
