Obituary

Pamela J. Smidt, 61, of Platteville died on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Platteville. Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday or from 9:00 -9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. At 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and Cemetery there will be a memorial/graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Pamela J. Smidt Memorial Fund. Pam was born on November 25, 1952 in Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Jean (Shafer) Flage. She was united in marriage to Warner Smidt on February 7, 1976 at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, rural Postville. She graduated from Postville High School and from Iowa State University with her bachelor's degree in child development. She was a teacher for Head Start Program since 1975. She did take time off to raise her three daughters as well as doing some daycare.
She is survived by her husband, Warner; three daughters, Sarah (Matt) Anderson, Erin Smidt and Abby Smidt; granddaughter, Addison; her mother, Jean Flage; sister, Karla Flage (Jeff Polfer); mother-in-law, Grace Smidt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris & John Ronge, Leona & Brad Nau, and Roger & Elizabeth Smidt. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo.
