Deborah Obershaw

Deborah A. (Deb) Obershaw, of Platteville, WI, died on Monday, November 24, 2014 at her home. Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Deb Obershaw Memorial Fund. Deb was born on September 24, 1954 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Justin L. and Bernice C. (Kutsch) Niensteadt. She was united in marriage to Steven Obershaw on October 20, 1973 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Dubuque. Deb graduated from Wahlert High School, Dubuque. For many years she owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store in Platteville. Later worked, as a second shift supervisor, at Swiss Colony, Dickeyville. She also worked at K&M Construction and drove a van for disabled children for many years. She always enjoyed her morning coffee clutch, wherever they met. She is survived by her husband, Steve; two children, Anne (Josh) Bartlett of Pewaukee, WI; and Eric (Seiko Uno) Obershaw of Tokyo, Japan; mother, Bernice of Dubuque; two sisters, Marie (Jim) Trannel of East Dubuque; Jane Noble of Dubuque; brother, Dave (Patti) Niensteadt of LaMotte, IA; mother-in-law, Bernadette Obershaw of Dickeyville, close family friends, “T” and family and abundant furry companions, always at her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Justin.
