Pat and I served together in Vietnam in 1969. We spent many days and nights together covering each other's back. I have a number of stories which I am sure would make his family proud. During that tour of duty we were as close as any brothers could be. Let me just say that he was always a leader among us, and he showed a special courage that could never be questioned. I can think of no greater honor than to say he was my friend. Semper Fi Devil Dog. Your next duty station is to guard the gates of Heaven. I shall be there shortly, and we will once again stand a post together. My deepest condolences to the family.
