Patrick “Pat” Kemnitzer, 66, of Platteville, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where chapel military rites will be accorded by VFW Post #5274 and American Legion Post #42. Monsignor Charles Schluter will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Pat was born in Platteville, Wisconsin, on November 1, 1948, the son of Raymond and Anastasia (Schneider) Kemnitzer. He was united in marriage to Rosane Pollard on April 10, 1999 in Platteville. He graduated from Platteville High School. Pat then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1972, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He owned and operated K&M Construction in Platteville from 1983 until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the VFW, and, in 2012, the Veterans Honor Roll Committee. Pat was a great supporter to the city of Platteville; he took great pride in helping others. He enjoyed spending good times and great memories with his friends and family on the river and at their cabin in Bagley. He was an outstanding father to his children and extended family, always putting them first. Pat is survived by his wife, Rosane Kemnitzer; children, Shannon (Jeremy) Kisting, Shane (Adeline) Kemnitzer, Craig Bockhop, Brenda (Mark) Whalen, Crystal (Steve) Crapp, Melissa (Kelly) Foecking; eleven grandchildren; his dog, Barney; and his cat, Sophie; sister, Betty Tyson (Don Bailey); brothers, James (Jane) Kemnitzer, and Norman (Marie) Kemnitzer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
